Prepare one arrival note before flying

Save your hotel address, flight number, arrival date and onward ticket together, where you can read them without a connection. Send the hotel your expected arrival time in Tashkent and ask when your room will actually be available. An arrival shortly after midnight needs particular care: write out both the calendar date and the night you are booking.

For example, landing at 02:00 on 15 October and wanting a room immediately is a request for accommodation covering the night of 14–15 October. A booking beginning on 15 October may start at the hotel's later check-in time. This is a planning example, not a claim about a particular hotel's policy. Ask the property to confirm the room will be held for your late arrival.

  • Hotel: full name, street address, map pin, working contact and check-in arrangement.
  • Transport: provider or app, exact destination, passenger count, bag count and agreed payment method.
  • Phone: installed travel apps, a tested login and a way to get online on arrival.
  • Onward journey: issued ticket, departure station or terminal, boarding instructions and a backup if the flight is late.
  • Documents: passport and the entry documents needed for your own itinerary, kept accessible during arrival.

02

From the aircraft to the public arrivals area

Treat the scheduled landing time as the start of your arrival sequence. It does not tell you when you will be outside with your luggage. Follow the airport's arrival signs and staff instructions; allow separately for shopping and phone setup when calculating an onward connection.

The sequence below is our preparation checklist. It carries no promised immigration, baggage or customs waiting time. If you are connecting to another flight, establish the transfer procedure with your airline before leaving the area in which staff can direct you.

  1. 1

    Complete passport control

Keep your passport and required travel documents accessible and follow the arrival signs and staff instructions.

  2. 2

    Collect and inspect your baggage

Match the bag to your baggage tag and check it before leaving the collection area. If something is missing or damaged, ask for the baggage service desk while you are still at the airport.

  3. 3

    Resolve customs questions before leaving

Ask customs staff if anything you carry needs a declaration. If you intend to use a local SIM, check the phone declaration and IMEI preparation in our SIM/eSIM guide before leaving the customs area. A driver cannot decide entry or customs requirements for you.

  4. 4

Arrange the first payment and connection

Confirm how you will pay for the ride and how you will contact the driver or hotel. If phone setup is taking time, the arrivals taxi desk offers a way to arrange the next step without completing an app booking.

  5. 5

    Confirm pickup before moving outside

Use the current signposted pickup zone or the provider's written meeting instructions. Check the vehicle and driver against the actual booking, and confirm that the destination is your hotel entrance or the station on your ticket.

03

Choose transport for the journey you actually need

For a direct hotel journey, compare a ride booked in an app, a quote at the airport taxi desk and a transfer arranged before departure. For a bus, check the last part of the journey as carefully as the route from the airport: your hotel may still require a walk or another ride.

Our recommendation is to arrange a direct ride for a late arrival, a group with several suitcases, or a traveller who needs assistance getting into the vehicle. Choose the bus when its confirmed route and payment method fit your arrival, and carrying your luggage between stops is acceptable.

04

Where do taxis collect passengers?

The airport's 29 December 2025 announcement allows pickup in the first lane for Taxi Millennium, Let's Trip, Uzviptransservice, Sixt, Taxi Airport Tashkent and Yandex Go. It identifies a shared dispatcher in arrivals for the desk operators and app ordering for Yandex Go. Use the signs and the pickup point for your actual booking. Uzbekistan Airports notice.

This changes the older blanket advice that every app taxi must meet you outside the airport grounds. It still does not make any person offering a ride your assigned driver. Keep the order visible, match the car registration and confirm the destination before loading your bags.

The same notice describes a 20-minute limit in the first lane for eligible drivers and a 10-minute limit in the second lane. These are vehicle-access limits, not a promise that your ride includes free waiting. Ask the dispatcher or transfer provider about passenger waiting charges separately.

05

Taking a bus: route first, payment second

The Yandex Maps airport stop checked on 13 September 2026 lists bus 40 towards Toshkent vokzali and bus 67 towards Beg'ubor mahallasi, among other services. These are useful route-search starting points. The direction, intermediate stops and walking connection must match your destination; a bus labelled with a railway station is not proof that it reaches the station on your ticket.

The Ministry of Transport announced that Tashkent buses stopped taking cash on board from 1 January 2025: electronic payment was 1,700 som per ride, while a single-use QR ticket bought at a payment kiosk cost 3,000 som. ATTO's Uzbek FAQ still identifies 1,700 som as the Tashkent single-ride amount when checked on 13 September 2026. Ministry payment notice; ATTO FAQ.

If you intend to use cash, obtain the appropriate QR ticket before boarding. We have not verified a working kiosk at the airport stop, so resolve that step before choosing the bus. A foreign card's contactless symbol is not confirmation that this particular card will work. For an ATTO card, the FAQ specifies one passenger per card: plan payment for each member of the group.

Check departures when you are ready to leave. A map's opening-hours field for a bus stop does not establish round-the-clock operation of every route. We have not verified first or last departures, a guaranteed frequency or an airport-to-centre journey time for this article.

06

Cash and mobile data for the first ride

Before committing to a taxi or bus, settle two practical questions: whether you can pay in the required way and whether you can contact the person collecting you. A payment plan can be a card that the service accepts, suitable cash, or a confirmed prepaid transfer. Do not leave both questions until you are trying to identify a car outside.

Use the money guide for exchange, ATM fees and card limitations. If you use an airport exchange counter or ATM, read the rate, commission and withdrawal fee offered there; the existence of an official exchange-rate figure does not make it the transaction rate.

Choose connectivity before flying with the SIM and eSIM guide. Keep the app login working, check whether your chosen plan supplies only data or also a phone number, and agree how your driver can reach you. An eSIM installation screen is not a test of mobile service after arrival. Download the hotel address and tickets even if you plan to buy a SIM locally.

07

Airport to a train: use the exact station name

Tashkent has distinct Markaziy and Janubiy railway stations. The railway also uses Shimoliy, meaning northern, for Markaziy in its passenger notices. Janubiy means southern. Check the issued ticket and the latest carrier notice before selecting a map destination. The railway's station notice establishes these names; its temporary 2023 diversions are not a current timetable.

For Samarkand, first choose an actual train and check its departure station using the Tashkent–Samarkand guide. Then plan the airport-to-station ride. The arrival hall, a railway ticket office and a train platform are different endpoints; a road estimate only covers one part of that chain.

Names to distinguish when arranging a ride
NameWhat it identifiesYour next action
Toshkent Markaziy / ShimoliyCentral / Northern railway stationMatch it to the origin printed on the train ticket.
Toshkent JanubiySouthern railway stationUse its own map pin; do not substitute Markaziy.
Tashkent airport, international terminal / T2International flight terminal in the airline's airport guideFor pickup, give the flight number and confirm the arrivals meeting point.
Tashkent airport, domestic terminal / T3Domestic flight terminal in the airline's airport guideConfirm the terminal assigned to your actual flight before travelling there.

08

Should you take a train on arrival day?

Our default for a first visit is to sleep in Tashkent before the first fixed intercity departure. It removes the need to fit arrival formalities, bags, payment, a road transfer and railway boarding into the gap between two separately timed journeys. You can still choose an arrival-day train, but judge the complete connection and what happens if you miss it.

There is no universal airport-to-train minimum supplied by the sources checked here. Do not turn a short map driving estimate into a promised connection. Use the train-booking guide to check the ticket's conditions and boarding instructions before committing.

  1. 1

    Write down the available interval

Subtract the scheduled flight arrival from the train departure. Check the dates, especially for an overnight flight.

  2. 2

List every task inside that interval

Include disembarkation, passport control, baggage, customs, finding the vehicle, driving to the correct station and the railway's boarding process. Add any SIM or cash task you cannot do beforehand.

  3. 3

    Reserve room for delay

Decide how much delay your booking can tolerate. Any buffer you choose is your planning allowance, not an airport or railway guarantee.

  4. 4

Consider the cost of missing the train as well as the ticket price

Check the rules for changing or refunding the train ticket and identify the next usable option. If a missed departure would disrupt the route or first hotel night, move the train to the following day.

09

Connecting from an international flight to a domestic flight

Plan a terminal change and baggage handling as separate tasks. Asiana's Tashkent airport guide identifies international Terminal 2 and domestic Terminal 3. Uzbekistan Airways' Uzbek baggage-transfer guidance says passengers entering Uzbekistan must reclaim and recheck baggage for an onward domestic flight, including when they already hold the domestic ticket. Airport terminal guide; baggage transfer.

Ask the airline selling your connection to confirm the actual terminals, baggage procedure, transfer arrangements and check-in deadline for both flights. This matters for a through ticket as well as for separate bookings. Do not assume a vehicle will be supplied between terminals, and do not plan on a free shuttle without a current confirmation.

Uzbekistan Airways' Tashkent notice dated 3 May 2024 gives check-in closing times of 30 minutes before domestic departures and one hour before international departures. These are closing deadlines, not suggested times to reach the terminal, and they are not a rule for every airline. Reconfirm against your current flight instructions. Airline check-in notice.

If the proposed connection leaves little room after baggage collection and the terminal transfer, choose a later flight or a night in Tashkent. We have not verified an official minimum connection time for every ticket combination, so no blanket two-hour or three-hour assurance is given here.

10

Keep the first night simple

Make hotel access the fixed part of arrival day and sightseeing the optional part. After a late or overnight flight, our suggested plan is a direct ride, a meal if wanted and rest. A full paid excursion works better after you know when you can reach the hotel and whether your room is available.

For a morning arrival without confirmed early check-in, ask about luggage storage and a place to wait. For a late arrival, get the entry instructions and an after-hours contact from the hotel. Ask how the property will handle your stay registration and keep the confirmation it provides; this checklist does not replace the rules applying to your own stay.

  • At the hotel, confirm the departure-day breakfast and checkout arrangements if your next train is early.
  • Save the next station pin and ticket offline; check the station name once more before setting an alarm.
  • Charge the phone, test mobile data and keep a second copy of the hotel's contact details.
  • Resolve any remaining cash requirement while you still have time to use another payment option.
  • If you are planning the whole trip, the 7-day route includes a first night in Tashkent; the 14-day route gives the city more time.

What to send when asking OxusRoad for arrival help

OxusRoad can help arrange an airport transfer and fit the first onward journey into your Uzbekistan route. Send the details below on WhatsApp or WeChat so the request can be priced for your group. A price, driver, meeting point and waiting arrangement become part of your plan only once they have been confirmed.

For a railway connection, include the actual train details rather than only the city you want to reach. For a domestic flight, send both flight numbers and say whether the flights share a booking. Discussing a connection does not establish that the airline accepts it.

  • Arrival date, flight number and scheduled arrival time.
  • Number of adults and children, children's ages, and any child-seat or mobility requirements.
  • Number and size of bags.
  • Hotel name and address, or the exact onward station and train details.
  • A contact method that will work after landing, plus the help needed: transfer only or wider trip arrangements.

Common questions

Can Yandex Go collect me at Tashkent airport?

The airport's December 2025 notice includes Yandex Go among services allowed in the first pickup lane. Follow your actual order and the current airport signs; do not rely on old instructions to meet every app taxi outside the airport.

Can I pay cash on the airport bus?

Tashkent's published system ended cash payment on board from January 2025. Cash users obtain a single-use QR ticket from a suitable payment kiosk before boarding. We have not verified a kiosk at the airport stop, so arrange payment before choosing the bus.

How much time should I leave between landing and an Afrosiyob train?

There is no universal airport-to-train minimum in the sources checked. Include arrival formalities, baggage, the road trip to the ticketed station and railway boarding. Our suggested first-visit plan is a night in Tashkent before the train, especially when missing it would disrupt the route.

Are international and domestic flights in the same terminal?

The airline airport guide distinguishes international T2 and domestic T3. Confirm the terminal for your flights and allow for changing terminals and reclaiming/rechecking baggage. Do not assume a free shuttle or an automatic baggage transfer.

Which hotel date should I book if I land after midnight?

Ask the hotel to confirm a room for the night that covers your actual arrival. If you land at 02:00 on 15 October and want immediate access, explain that you need the night of 14–15 October and a late-arrival arrangement. A booking beginning on the 15th may have a later check-in time.
