Uzbekistan trip costs: prices and a 7-day worksheet

What does this seven-day budget cover?

The worksheet follows our seven-day itinerary: Tashkent → Samarkand → Bukhara → Tashkent. It assumes two foreign adults sharing one double or twin room, arriving on Day 1 and departing on Day 7. Nights 1 and 6 are in Tashkent, Nights 2–3 in Samarkand, and Nights 4–5 in Bukhara.

Count six room-nights for the pair and three train tickets per person. If you use a vehicle for every airport and station connection, add eight vehicle journeys: two airport transfers and six station transfers. Walking, metro or bus trips can replace individual transfers where they suit your hotel, luggage and timing.

Keep the international flight outside the Uzbekistan subtotal so you can compare routes from different departure airports. Visa fees if applicable, insurance, shopping, tips, special experiences and banking charges also need their own entries.

How do you calculate the cost per person?

Divide costs charged for a room or vehicle between the people sharing it. Keep train tickets, admissions, meals and any per-person accommodation fees separate. The table below deliberately leaves supplier prices open: enter the final amount for your dates, including mandatory charges, rather than a search-result starting price.

What does a meal cost?

Kamolon Osh's Uzbek menu, checked on 13 September 2026, lists To'y oshi at 53,000 UZS and achchiq chuchuk salad at 17,500 UZS. Two plov portions plus one shared salad therefore total 123,500 UZS, or 61,750 UZS per person.

Seven lunches at that same item-price benchmark would be 432,250 UZS per person, about US$36.68. This is one Tashkent menu used for arithmetic, not a survey of prices along the route or a recommendation to eat the same meal daily. Breakfasts, dinners, drinks, bread, delivery and any service charge are outside that subtotal.

How do you compare hotel and hostel prices?

Compare the final price for the same dates, occupancy and room type. A dormitory bed and a private room are different units. For a double or twin room, divide the total by two only when that price covers both travellers; do not divide a per-person rate again.

As a specific low-cost accommodation example, BeShic's Uzbek site, checked on 13 September 2026, displays US$12 for nonresidents and a separate 44,000 UZS tourist fee. Its English property page identifies the product as a dormitory bed and says breakfast is excluded. The bed price is approximately 141,402 UZS at our reference rate, before the separate fee. That supplier display does not establish the property’s statutory classification. The current table below distinguishes small individual accommodation from larger hotel categories; ask the property for its registered category, room count and applicable calculation.

These are the property's displayed figures, with no effective date stated, not a confirmed booking or a national hotel tariff. Ask for the final stay total and current fee. For your six-night private-room plan, collect separate quotes for all three cities, including both Tashkent stays.

For a private-room reference in Bukhara, Poykent's own website displayed a Standard Double from US$140 per day on 13 September 2026. This is an advertised starting price without a dated stay or confirmed tax breakdown. If a quote confirms US$140 for two occupants, the room component is US$70 each per night; two nights are US$140 each before any excluded charges.

Request an explicit answer about breakfast, accommodation charges, early arrival, late departure and cancellation. If you want access to a room before its normal check-in, include the hotel's proposed arrangement in the quote; six calendar nights alone do not price that extra access.

How much is Uzbekistan’s tourist tax per night?

As of 14 September 2026, foreign visitors pay 8,800–66,000 UZS per chargeable accommodation day in the main categories below, where the levy applies. Hotels are grouped by room count, not stars. The rates come from Cabinet Resolution No. 475, Annex 3; the calculation uses the 440,000 UZS base amount effective 1 September 2026.

The legal unit is each day of accommodation; a partial day is charged as a full day. For a conventional overnight stay, ask the property to state its chargeable days alongside the nightly quote, particularly for day use, early arrival or late departure. All rates and exemptions here were checked on 14 September 2026 in Resolution No. 475, Annex 3, paragraphs 2–4 and its rate schedule.

Children under 16 are exempt. Uzbek citizens and permanent-resident stateless people fall under the domestic category: 0.4% of the base amount, currently 1,760 UZS per chargeable day; that category is also exempt in medical institutions, sanatoriums and boarding facilities. These rules are from No. 475, Annex 3, paragraphs 2–3, checked 14 September 2026; UZS amounts use Decree PF-115.

A 2026 location exemption removes the levy from accommodation outside regional capitals, Tashkent, Nukus and the districts, towns and tourism zones listed in Annex 2. Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara on this worksheet remain within areas where the levy applies; Khiva is explicitly listed. Do not assume that every rural stay is exempt. The property's invoice must show the accommodation cost and total tourist levy under No. 475, Annex 3, paragraph 4, checked 14 September 2026. This does not make every advertised room price tax-inclusive or require every hotel to collect at check-out. Ask whether your booking total already includes the levy and whether any balance is due at check-in or check-out; add it only once. How much should you allow for trains and city transport?

For the seven-day route, obtain three separate ticket prices. The booking date, departure, train and class must be specified in each result. A price published for Tashkent–Bukhara does not establish the fare for Samarkand–Bukhara, and subtracting two route fares does not produce a valid ticket price.

UzDaily's Uzbek report, dated 16 January 2026, records these Afrosiyob fares announced for 1 February. Checked on 13 September, they provide historical tariff context. They are not live September availability or checkout prices.

• Use the official railway booking service for your three dates and follow our booking guide. Compare the payable total when an intermediary adds an arrangement fee.
• For Tashkent public transport, ATTO's Uzbek tariff page, checked on 13 September 2026, shows 1,700 UZS for the first bus or metro journey in its transfer tariff. Four separate first-fare journeys would be 6,800 UZS; card purchase and any other charges are separate.
• Obtain vehicle quotes for the actual pickup and destination. Eight transfers in the worksheet describe the itinerary's connections, not eight equal fares or eight compulsory taxi rides.

Which sightseeing costs need a separate line?

List each paid site you actually intend to enter and select the correct visitor category. Include optional guides, audio guides or special access only when you want them. Do not multiply a single museum's fee by the number of sights and call the result a national sightseeing budget.

One optional Tashkent addition is the Center of Islamic Civilization. On 13 September 2026 its Uzbek iTicket listing displayed 425,000 UZS for a foreign adult with an audio guide, about US$36.07. A separate foreign-language guide service was 480,000 UZS for up to ten visitors; admission tickets remain additional.

For two adults choosing that guide, the calculation is 2 × 425,000 + 480,000 = 1,330,000 UZS for the pair, or 665,000 UZS each. Add this optional visit to your worksheet only if you choose it. Check other Samarkand and Bukhara admissions individually.

What changes when you travel alone?

A solo traveller pays the full price of a private room or vehicle unless a supplier offers a different single-occupancy rate. Two people can share those expenses. Train seats, individual admissions and meals remain separate purchases, so doubling a shared-room per-person budget would also double costs that do not need doubling.

A clear comparison uses two accommodation quotes: one person in a single or double room, and two people sharing a double or twin. Keep the same travel dates and cancellation terms. For shared guide or vehicle services, calculate each traveller's share from the actual group total.

With all other inputs unchanged, a 100,000 UZS increase in the price of a room for each of six nights adds 300,000 UZS per person for two sharing, or 600,000 UZS for one person occupying that room. This is a sensitivity calculation, not an observed hotel price increase.

How are dollar equivalents calculated?

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan's Uzbek archive displayed 11,783.47 UZS for US$1 on 13 September 2026. Dollar equivalents here divide the amount in som by that rate and are rounded for comparison. A provider's US dollar price remains its own price; converting it does not determine how the provider will collect payment.

Keep your worksheet in UZS where suppliers quote in UZS. Retain a separate currency column for other quotes, and update the conversion when you compare or pay. What should you send for a trip estimate?

Send OxusRoad the travel dates, arrival and departure airports, number of adults and children, preferred room setup and the parts you want arranged. For this route, specify six nights, the three train legs and whether airport or station pickups are needed. Name any guide days or paid experiences you want included.

Ask for the proposed hotels or room standard, train class, included meals, admissions, accommodation charges, payment currency and cancellation terms alongside the total. Mark anything you will buy independently. That produces a quote you can compare with the same worksheet, without counting a service twice.
