Which passports get visa-free entry, and for how long?

Start with the passport you will actually use. As checked on 14 September 2026, the MFA nationality table gives US, UK and all EU citizens up to 30 days; it distinguishes longer and conditional regimes. A country’s visa-free status does not remove separate accommodation-registration obligations. Registration law, checked the same day

For US citizens, the 30-day exemption started on 1 January 2026 under Decree PF-203 of 3 November 2025. The decree removed the earlier age-based restriction; the MFA’s main table now includes the United States, although an older note still mentions age 55. MFA, checked 14 September 2026

The table reproduces every nationality in the MFA’s principal list, grouped for ease of reading. Its “unlimited” heading concerns the visa regime. Kazakhstan’s separate treaty allows 30 calendar days without temporary registration per visit, with a total of 90 days in a 180-day period; longer stays require registration under domestic rules. Do Indian travelers need an e-visa, and which exceptions matter?

India remains in the MFA e-visa eligibility list, checked 14 September 2026. However, Decree PF-180 of 29 August 2026 sets a conditional 30-day exemption with a stated start of 1 September; LexUZ records the decree’s entry into force on 3 September 2026. The MFA overview lacks those conditions; confirm eligibility with an Uzbek consulate before travel.

The decree requires an Indian passport, a valid multiple-entry business or tourist visa from Australia, the US, UK, Canada, South Korea, a Schengen state, New Zealand or Japan, and a flight ticket home or to a third country. The visit must remain within that foreign visa’s validity and 30 days from entry. PF-180, paragraph 1; checked 14 September 2026 The MFA baseline list does not yet explain this exception.

Other conditional cases in the MFA notes include children under 16 with a biometric travel document and an accompanying legal representative, for the duration of that person’s visa, capped at 90 days. Vietnamese citizens aged 55 or over have a tourism exemption up to 30 days. The five-day airport-transit route has a separate nationality list and onward Uzbekistan Airways ticket condition. For Qatar, use the main table’s 30 days, supported by PF-86 of 5 June 2023, rather than its obsolete 10-day note. For holders of ordinary Chinese passports, the MFA consular notice states 30 days per visit and 90 in 180. How do you apply for an e-visa and check its status online?

If you need a visa, check eligibility before paying: the e-visa route is available to listed nationalities, not everyone outside the visa-free table. The published processing time is two working days, excluding the day of submission; applications should be submitted at least three working days before arrival. The MFA fee schedule is US$20 for single entry, $35 for double entry and $50 for multiple entry. The published length of stay for an e-visa is up to 30 days within a 90-day validity period from issue; a late arrival does not extend the expiry date. Choose nationality, passport type, purpose and dates; enter passport details, upload your portrait and passport identity page, activate the application by email and pay. Use the portal’s application-status tool and retain the issued PDF. A payment notification alone is not the visa. How much passport validity do you need?

Check passport expiry before booking. The MFA overview, checked 14 September 2026 states at least three months beyond visa validity for consular applications; its visa-free notes also use six months “from visa issuance”, an awkward reference for a visa-free visitor. Ask the consulate and carrier to confirm how they apply it to your passport.

Our planning recommendation is to renew a passport with less than six months remaining on arrival, rather than build a trip around that ambiguity. This is a conservative planning allowance, not a newly verified universal legal minimum. For an e-visa, use the same passport for the application and travel; passport replacement requires a new e-visa, and mismatched details invalidate it. Check each traveler separately, including children and anyone with dual nationality. A residence permit in a visa-free country is not the same as its citizenship; the MFA expressly excludes stateless residents from that nationality-based exemption. MFA, checked 14 September 2026

What is tourist registration, and will your hotel do it?

Registration records your address during the stay. Hotel and other accommodation staff submit it through E-mehmon; visiting foreigners normally must register within three working days of entry unless a treaty or other rule provides a different period. Give reception your travel document and ask for the registration confirmation before departure. When changing hotels, ask the next property to record its own dates and address. A Russian visitor has a 15-day registration exemption under the treaty. For Kazakhstan, the treaty specifies 30 calendar days per visit without temporary registration and 90 in 180 overall; longer stays require registration. For Belarusian citizens, the deadline needs confirmation: E-mehmon lists 30 days before first registration, while the MFA announcement of 9 July 2026 confirms a treaty-amending protocol without publishing its operative text or commencement date. The published original treaty, Article 3 refers to domestic registration rules. Sources checked 14 September 2026; the grace period is unresolved here. Arrange registration with your hotel or host from the day you arrive and obtain consular confirmation before relying on an exemption.

How do you register when staying with friends or in an apartment?

Agree on registration arrangements with your host before arrival. The owner or authorized host has a registration duty under Law O‘RQ-1074, checked 14 September 2026. The E-mehmon private-stay service allows the host to sign in through OneID to enter guest details, the property’s cadastral record and stay dates; this is not an e-visa application.

The portal asks the host to submit the record and complete the applicable payment. It limits this online service to the available period within 30 days after entry and directs longer or overdue cases to the migration office. Moving from a hotel to a private address also needs prompt action: the portal states a usual 24-hour re-registration period. E-mehmon, checked 14 September 2026

Ask the host to confirm successful registration and send the resulting document. Do not assume a rental booking has completed the process. Keep accommodation charges separate from the visa fee and use the trip-cost guide’s tourist-tax section when agreeing what is included in the room price.

What does the registration slip look like, and is it checked?

The legal confirmation can be electronic, on paper or both; it is evidence of accommodation registration. We have no reliable current data on how often officers check slips, so we cannot promise that checks are rare.

E-mehmon calls it a registration sheet (ro‘yxat varaqasi): after payment, the account provides a downloadable document suitable for printing that shows where the guest was registered during the stay. Keep train or flight tickets alongside your accommodation documents to explain travel nights if asked; transport tickets are not presented here as an automatic substitute for registration. What can go wrong with payment, an overstay or departure?

Resolve document problems before your departure day. The MFA says visitors must leave when their visa-free period expires and lists an EXIT visa for an overstayed entry visa. MFA, checked 14 September 2026 If a deadline is missed, contact the local migration office and your consulate; do not assume paying a fine at the airport settles the case.

For failed e-visa payments, retain the application reference, error message and bank transaction details. Check application status before paying repeatedly. MFA instructions direct portal failures to its support channel and state that the consular processing fee is non-refundable. The private-registration portal, checked 14 September 2026 directs overdue cases to the migration office instead of attempting to force a late online registration. Extending your hotel stay does not itself extend your permitted stay in the country. For documents close to expiry or an unclear nationality exception, get a case-specific answer before extending the trip.
