Common questions

Train or private car between the cities?

Take the train where a suitable departure exists: Tashkent–Samarkand in about 2 h 20 to 2 h 30 min, Tashkent–Bukhara in about 4 h, Bukhara–Khiva in 4 h 40 min since September 2026. A car is worth pricing when you want hotel pickup, a chosen departure time or stops on the way, as the Samarkand to Bukhara and Bukhara to Khiva guides explain.

How do I get from Tashkent airport into the city?

Licensed taxi operators and Yandex Go pick up passengers from the first lane outside arrivals, with official in-city fares from 50,000 som; buses 40 and 67 stop at the airport for 1,700 som by electronic payment. The airport arrival guide covers the first night and the two railway stations.

When do tickets go on sale, and what if the train shows no seats?

Sales open 60 days ahead at 10:00 Tashkent time. Seats reappear when unpaid orders expire or tickets are returned, so check again, try another departure or a Sharq train, or ask at the station ticket office. See the Afrosiyob and Sharq guide.
